Late Georgian Old Sheffield Plate Tea Set

ca. 1800, including:
a teapot, h. 10-1/2", l. 11-1/4";
a creamer, h. 4-1/2", l. 5-3/4"; and
an open sugar bowl, h. 5", w. 8-1/4";
the pot of oval section with bulbous body, pedestal foot and crested wood handle, the cream and sugar with rounded rectangular bodies with serpentine-canted corners and integral reeded strap handle(s), each engraved with a crest of a boar's head erased in pale.

  • Provenance: The Collection of Deborah & Eli Tullis, New Orleans, Louisiana.
  • Condition: **A well-used set with commensurate wear. Thumbprint-sized dent on the body of the teapot to the right of the crest. Bleeding to the copper on most edges, particularly the strap handles and panels of the cream and sugar, but also the teapot finial and the crests. Vertical splits on the rim of sugar bowl at the edges of the main panels, and smaller horizontal splits on both sides of both handles where they meet the body. Scattered small nicks and losses to the applied rims of the teapot and sugar bowl.
