Late Georgian Sterling Silver Teapot,

London, 1805-1806, by Robert Garrard I (1758-1818; free 1780), of squat inverted pear form, with raised collar, wooden finial and handle, shallow domed and hinged lid, short spout, and raised on a circular foot ring, with later floral swag decoration, monogrammed "A".
h. 6", l. 9-3/*4", dia. 6-1/4"; 19.33 t. oz.

  • Condition: Some scattered bumps and dings, including a shallow 1/2 crease on one cartouche, as well as a pair of notches in the collar worn by the lid and adivot in the handle worn by the finial. The decoration is a Victorian addition as noted, and the wooden elements (rosewood?) are likewise later replacements. The mongram is very faded and likely original. Fully hallmarked on the underside.
