Louis XIII-Style Fruitwood Fauteuil a la Reine, third quarter 19th century, the padded rectangular back surmounted by a scalloped crest and joined by ribbed downswept arms to the padded seat, raised on molded scrolling legs joined by a shaped X-form stretcher and ending in in-scrolled toes, h. 44". Provenance: Personal collection of Paul Rosenthal, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.


  • Condition: In overall good condition, exhibiting normal wear, minor abrasions, past restorations including a small splice to the stile at the juncture with the seat rail, and other indications of age and use. Scattered past insect damage throughout. The stiles are loose at their juncture with the seat rails. Legs and stretchers are tight and apparently solid.
