Louis XV Gilt-Bronze and Paint-Decorated Bracket Clock, third quarter 18th century, decorated in the Vernis Martin style with flowers and a hunt scene on a green ground, the movement with double bells, h. 57-1/4", w. 20-3/4", d. 10".


  • Condition: The majority of the paint decoration is intact, with a few very small losses as well as one a little larger over the right foot where there is also some separation in the case. The feet mounts and the frame surrounding the clock face and glass are cast gilt brass. The remainder of the mounts are pressed gilt brass. The majority of the pressed brass decoration is present; several mounting pins as well as a few small segments of the pressed brass are absent. Some small breaks as well and possible loss to part of the pressed brass finial. Light surface cracks and minor loss to enamel dial. The pendulum and bell are present.
