Louis XV-Style Ebonized and Marble-Top Commode

late 19th century, in the chinoiserie taste, the shaped marble top above a conforming bombe case fitted with two long drawers featuring a polychrome scene of a pagoda and boat with mother-of-pearl accents, raised on splayed legs ending in sabots.

  • Condition: **In overall very good condition. The piece exhibits minor shrinkage, nominal wear and rubbing to the surfaces.

    Tight and sturdy.

    Marble in very good condition with no breaks, repairs or notable chips.

    Locks present; no key.

    There are some small losses to the ebonizing to the back edges of both sides, where the case meets the wall.

    NOTE: May be of 20th-century rather than 19th-century manufacture.
