Louis XV-Style Ebonized Bureau Plat

early 20th century, the rounded rectangular top with a molded edge and inset leather writing surface, above a frieze fitted with a bank of two short drawers to either end, the verso with faux drawers, raised on cabriole legs ending in sabots, the whole richly accented with ormolu mounts and hardware.

  • Condition: **In overall good condition.

    The case is tight and very stable.

    The ebonizing has been renewed in the past, and now exhibits some scattered surface scratches, wear and mars.

    The tooled leather top is worn and heavily stained.

    There are scrubs at two corners of the top, one with a shallow splinter loss about 1-1/2" long by 1/8". There is a dent/abrasion at the bottom edge of one of the scallops at the side of the case.

    Drawers open and close freely. Locks present; no key.
