Louis XV-Style Kingwood and Exotic Woods Bureau Plat, early 20th century, the shaped rectangular top with an elaborate scroll inlay within a brass edging, above a conforming frieze fitted with a central drawer flanked to either side by a small drawer, raised on cabriole legs ending in sabots, h. 31", w. 43", d. 22".
- Condition: In "as found" condition. The piece exhibits a number of scratches, most notably around the drawers, wear, shrinkage and abrasions consistent with age and use. The inset tooled leather top is worn, discolored with missing pieces. The ormolu on two of the legs is loose. The perimeter edges of the apron exhibit several old veneer loses, now repaired with filler. There is a veneer loss to the banding on one side about 3/8" by 1-1/2". There are losses at the canted top edges of the drawers about 3/8" by 3/4", 3/8" by 1-1/4" and 3/8" by 5/8". Areas of oxidation to the brass molding at the perimeter of the top.
