Louis XVI Kingwood, Rosewood and Marble-Top Encoignure

fourth quarter 18th century, by Leonard Boudin (1735-1807), Paris, the rouge marble top with a rounded front above a conforming case fitted with a concealed Greek-key-inlaid drawer, the opening mechanism underneath, with a single cupboard door with a diamond-patterned band surrounding a parquetry mixed-woods panel, the sides with inlaid faux fluting and an ormolu capital, raised on shaped legs to ormolu paw feet, the upper top stamped "Boudin".

  • Condition: **In very good polished and restored condition.

    The case is sturdy and solid with no movement exhibited in the legs or joints.

    The marble top exhibits customary small flea bites and flakes along its perimeter edges. There are no apparent indications of breaks or repairs.

    Lock and functional key are present. The hidden release for the drawer is functional.

    No veneer losses or notable veneer repairs observed, suggesting the piece has seen extensive veneer restorations in a quality shop.
