Louis XVI-Style Giltwood and Marble-Top Side Table

late 19th century, the rectangular marble top above a pierced guilloche frieze, raised on fluted tapering circular legs headed by scrolling foliate capitals, joined by a pineapple-centered H-form stretcher and ending in ribbed toupie feet.
h. 34-3/4", w. 35-1/2", d. 23-1/2"

  • Condition: **Solid and sturdy.

The gilt surface exhibits a few scattered minor losses, revealing the underlying gesso, most notably at the bottom of the legs. Overall, the surface is in very good condition.

The marble top exhibits a professional repair, with well-matched colors.

One inside scroll end is missing from the inside capital on top of a front leg. The loss is a straight-line loss from delamination/glue failure where a board was joined.
