Louis XVI-Style Mahogany, Kingwood and Marble-Top Commode
early 20th century, the D-form top with projecting canted corners, above a conforming case fitted with a single frieze with a pierced ormolu foliate mount, over two long drawers, both banded and quarter-veneered, the sides with like ormolu mounts over panels, raised on fluted tapering circular legs.

Condition: **In "as found" condition. The marble has old repairs with two front-to-back cracks now stable. Each side end has a horizontal shrinkage crack which runs across the grain. The ormulu mounts have darkened slightly over time. A small section of the beaded trim above the front right leg is gone. One inner fluted liner is off but present to the section above the front left leg. Drawer interiors are clean.
