Louis XVI-Style Polychrome & Faux-Marbre Trumeau

  • Condition: This mirror appears to be late 18th century with later edge boards and cap. The gilded surround has surface wear and minor scattered losses commensurate with its age. The shell finial has a repaired shrinkage crack. Shrinkage cracks outline the framing between the mirror plate and painting, and there is a loss of about 2" x 2" to the marbleizing on one side, and a 1' x 1' loss on the other side. The gilt liner (framing the painting) has minor losses and shrinkage cracks. The right stile has a long shrinkage crack and loss to the upper giltwood applique, also some gilt loss to the lower portion of the faux-marbre.
