Mahogany and Burlwood Server in the William and Mary Style

19th century, the rectangular top banded and with oyster veneers around an oval panel centered by a floriform oyster-veneered design, over a conforming frieze fitted with a central drawer flanked to either side by a deeper drawer, raised on paneled cup-and-cover legs joined by a shaped stretcher and ending in paneled bun feet.
h. 35", w. 73-1/2", d. 26"

  • Condition: **In very good polished and restored condition.

The case is solid and appears to be free of movement at the glue joints.

The top exhibits a number of veneer tears, veneer patches, and filled losses to veneer and stringing. There is presently no loose veneer or unfilled voids in the top. There is some crazing to the finish and light surface scratches.

Drawers open and close freely. Locks present. No key. The brasses are later replacements.

There is a veneer loss along an outside edge of the case, about 1/4" wide and 3" long, and another veneer loss on the lower edge of one side of the case, about 1/2" by 3".
