Monumental French Belle Epoque Patinated Bronze Sconce

fourth quarter 19th century, depicting a profusion of putti holding torches, now set with light sockets and art glass lily shades after Tiffany, the backplate molded as a bowknot and swag, inscribed "Joseph Cheret" on a lower section of the swag and signed by Gustave Joseph Cheret (French, 1838-1894).

  • Condition: **There is some filler/soldering at the thumb of one putto. Bronze exhibits some light accretions and oxidation, as is to be expected with age and material. Some of the shades are likely replacements. Sconce is electrified with older wiring. In overall very good condition.
