Monumental Henry Dasson, Paris, Louis XVI-Style Mahogany and Marble-Top Grand Buffet
1880, the upper section with a domed and molded cornice above a conforming glazed door, flanked to either side by a shorter glazed cupboard, all opening to a shelved interior, the lower section with a brescia marble top with projecting canted corners, above a conforming case fitted with three drawers, with foliate guilloche ormolu panels, over three paneled cupboard doors, raised on tapering square feet ending in caps, the whole with ormolu mounts and millwork, signed at one side on the ormolu molding "henry Dasson.1880", stamp/branded at the rear upper left corner of the lower section "Henry Dasson/1880" and the back with three sets of eight stenciled black numerals: "48020380", "48020208" and "48020121".

Condition: **Elegant lot in generally very good, structurally sound condition. The case refinished with a good, intact polish. The 2" thick highly figured marble with several old cracks and restored breaks (now secured) along with well-incorporated areas of filler and patches. One canted corner with a 1/2" dia. chip. Scattered small chips and rough edges along the lower edge--all consistent with marble size and age. The crisp mounts generally retain the original bright gilt. There are a few minor surface losses at the junction of the main door and the adjacent stile. Upper interiors finished with shelves fronted with gilt-bronze trim. The side interiors mirrored and trimmed with gilt-bronze matching the exterior. The center interior with matching trim although the mirror is lacking (there is a 2" dia. hole at the back to accommodate wiring for electronics). One lower side panel with two filled vertical shrinkage cracks, the right panel with one. Five of the brass keyhole surrounds lacking.
