Monumental William IV Mahogany Pedestal Sideboard, second quarter 19th century, the canted rectangular top with a gadrooned edge, above a conforming frieze fitted with two drawers, raised on large cabriole supports headed by lion's masques and ending in paw feet, further supported by two taller pedestal ends, each with a gadroon-edged top above a drop-front cupboard, with a tapered cupboard below, raised on paw feet to plinth bases, h. 45", w. 102", d. 29-1/2".


  • Condition: Beautiful amber patina under old but not original polish. Side platforms each with tight shrinkage cracks, left with minor scattered veneer losses. Surface with dents and losses commensurate with age under the polish. Small pulls are replacements. Shrinkage crack to back edge of top. Minor scattered veneer lifting to lower doors. Right drawer opens to reveal a wine bottle holder. Losses to back where pedestal ends meet center. Minor lifting to molding around base.
