Amalia von Platen-Taylor Grossmann was a member of a socially prominent and wealthy family of German descent. Receiving a rigorous and thorough education at home, she briefly attended convent schools in Denmark and Germany. In 1885, von Platen married George Paul Albrecht Grossmann, a Silesian-born military officer and doctor. The couple resided in Omaha, Nebraska for many years.   • Condition: In generally good estate condition. Staining of boards along with some abrading. Yellowing and darkening of paper. Scattered small losses to edges of paper. Sheets loose within boards. Some creasing. All consistent with age, material and usage.
