Napoleon III Walnut and Mixed Woods Dressing Table

mid-19th century, in the Louis XV taste, the turtle-form top quarter-veneered with a foliate banding and centered by a brass plaque, above a conforming frieze fitted with a drawer with a push-back writing surface, raised on cabriole legs ending in sabots.
h. 28", w. 23", d. 15-1/2"

  • Condition: **In very good polished and restored condition.

The top has a darkened area of veneer near the center, about 1" x 1-3/4". It appears to be the type of darkening that happens when old rosewood is sanded. It often lightens over time.

    Lock and key are present.

Legs are tight, with no apparent repairs.

The upper drawer has an old fabric-lined slide. It appears to be silk velvet, now worn with a small tear and raised on one corner.
