Near Pair of Rare Regency Mahogany and Brass Plate Buckets

first quarter 19th century, with mahogany staves, brass bindings and handles, each with a side opening for easy removal of clean or dirty plates.
h. 16", dia. 15-1/2" and h. 15", dia. 14-1/2"

Provenance: Wakefield-Scearce Gallery, Shelbyville, Kentucky.

  • Condition: **Please note that these buckets are not a pair proper, but a related pair. One is 1" taller and 1" wider and has a third brass band, instead of two. On the larger example, the brass foot band has been repaired in two places, and a rubber sealant has been applied to the bottom of the inside. Both buckets have shrinkage cracks, some separation between staves and minor losses to bottom edges. In overall good condition.
