Newcomb College Art Pottery

rare high-glazed tyg, decorated by Henrietta Bailey in blue and green underglaze with one side incised with the Newcomb College seal of the live oak tree designed by Ellsworth Woodward, centering the school's initials and localized "N.O. LA."; the other two sides with conforming roundels of flowers and Pi Beta Phi Sorority arrows, base marked with Newcomb cipher, decorator's mark, Joseph Meyer potter's mark, reg. no. "BJ63" and "W" for white clay body.

  • Condition: **In overall very good condition with no visible losses, cracks or repairs. There is some light staining to the inside of the tyg. Base with stilt marks from the kiln firing process.
