Old Sheffield Plate Armorial Salver and Tray, first quarter 19th century, the salver of circular form with robust "Chippendale"-shaped rose and acanthus rim, raised on acanthus scroll legs, the plateau engraved with a broad scrolling floral band on an imbricate ground centering an elaborate but unidentified double-crested armorial, dia. 19-1/2", the tray of rounded rectangular form with reeded rim and handles, acanthus-crested corners and four spherical feet, the plateau engraved with the arms of Proctor-Beauchamp of Langley Park, Norfolk, l. 23-1/2", w. 14-3/4".


  • Condition: Overall Condition: Good. Salver: Some wear to the high relief of the rim, with the lead core exposed in some spots, but otherwise quite nice. No bleeding to the copper; no dents, breaks or repairs. Nice flat chasing; excellent armorial on rubbed-in circular cartouche. No manufacturers marks. Tray: Some wear to the high relief of the border, with the lead core exposed in some spots. Light bleeding to the copper on the high relief of the handles. Light surface scratches; some wear to the engraved armorial (on rubbed-in rounded rectangular cartouche). Tinned underside. No manufacturer's marks.
