Pair of American Arts and Crafts Courtier Sawn Oak Morris Chairs, early 20th century, attributed to L. & J. G. Stickley, each with an adjustable slat back with three steps, the open arms joined with through-tenons, each with upholstered seat and back cushions, h. 39-3/4". Provenance: Succession of George S. "Dod" Stewart, Slidell, Louisiana.

  • Condition: In overall good condition. Both chairs exhibit normal minor mars, wear and abrasions. The finish has been resurfaced at some point. One chair exhibits slight looseness at the glue joint joining a rear leg and seat rail. It remains functional as-is. The other chair is tight at all joints. One seat cushion exhibits considerable sagging/collapse at its center. The back cushions, matching the seat cushions, are present, but not illustrated.
