Pair of Chinese Export Porcelain Moon Flasks, second quarter 19th century, with dragon handles, panels of Mandarin decoration on the obverse, phoenix birds and peonies on the reverse, h. 9", w. 6-1/4", d. 1-1/2". Provenance: Lynda Willauer Antiques, Nantucket, Massachusetts.
- Condition: The dragon handles on both flasks exhibit firing fissures at the animals' appendages. Two such firing cracks on one dragon handle cracked the dragon's body and were repaired with an adhesive that has left a trace residue. The other moon flask has 1/4" firing crack on the inside of its foot rim, which appears to have been previously filled. There is some light wear to the gilded rims and glaze on the dragon handles.
