Pair of Chinese Porcelain Rectangular-Form Vases, Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), 19th century, each with two foo dog lugs and decorated with a scene of figures in an idyllic palace garden with scholar's rocks, prunus trees and banana leaves, h. 12", w. 6". Provenance: Personal collection of Paul Rosenthal, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

  • Condition: Scattered light abrasions, spots of soiling/accretions and wear to enamels and gilt. Firing anomalies throughout on both vases consistent with age, material and display. One vase has old professional repairs along the lip and the other has a couple of small (1/4") nicks along the mouth rim. One vase has a small chip along the foot rim. Both vases show small spots of inpainting that fluoresce under a black light. Color is still vibrant and vases maintain structural integrity.
