Pair of Chinese Powder Blue and Gilt Porcelain Vases

second half 19th century, each of baluster form, with flared lip, decorated to the exterior body and neck with molded panels containing figural arrangements and scenes depicting the Warring States era, all in the famille verte palette, on a powder blue ground covered with a dense floral design interspersed with auspicious objects in gilt, the bases unmarked.
h. 24-3/4", dia. 10"

  • Condition: **On one vase, there is a hairline spiderweb-form crack that extends outward from the shoulder and downward to ~2" from the bottom. The gilding in the floral cartouche over the crack exhibits some overpainted "touch-ups". The overpainting is well done. Crack is not easily visible on the exterior without a high-powered flashlight and magnifying glass. There is a small chip to the foot rim of the other vase. On both vases, the white foot rims have been overpainted with a near matching color of blue, some of which has flaked off. Both vases exhibit light wear/rubbing to gilding on rims.
