Pair of French Cut Crystal and Gilt-Bronze Urns

mid-20th century, in the Empire taste, the campana-form strawberry- and panel-cut urns, possibly Baccarat, fitted with gilt-bronze ram's-head-molded handles and egg-and-dart rims, on fluted bronze bases supported on matching cut glass plinths with leaf-molded bronze trim, formerly mounted as lamps.
h. 20-1/4", w. 8", d. 8-1/2"

  • Provenance: The Estate of Bonnie Bolding Swearingen, Birmingham, Alabama.
  • Condition: **On one, the bottom of the crystal urn above the stem foot has been repaired (horizontal crack) with an adhesive and there are three corresponding vertical hairline cracks, ~2" in length. Damage is not readily visible unless the urn is turned upside down. On the other example, there are three small chips to one of the edges on the square crystal plinth.
