Literature: The female is depicted on page 139 of Old Limoges: Haviland Porcelain Design and Decor, 1845-1865, by Barbara Wood and Robert Doares. They illustrate a drawing of the male vase from the original Haviland pattern book in the Collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City.

  • Condition: **Both with scattered rubbing to gilt consistent with age.
    GODDESS:
    Flared top with a nick to tip of one point. Loss to one end of one green leaf at center and end of leaf at outer side of her head. Biscuit good with a ding to the tip of one blade of her grass crown.
    GOD:
    Flared top with two flake chips at left, loss to an upper point (approx. 1/2"), a blade of grass behind bird's neck and outer tip of green leaf at center. Biscuit figure with loss to toes on forward leg and to the lower half of bird's outer wing. Elaborately modeled base with loss to a gilded outer left element and to a gilded point on right.
