Pair of French Naturalistic Patinated Bronze Candelabra

fourth quarter 19th century, after Auguste Nicolas Cain (French 1821-1894), one example depicting a mother bird feeding her nest of baby birds and the other a nest of baby birds being threatened by a rodent, each under candle cups molded as bellflowers, the bases decorated with ivy and supported by snails.

  • Condition: **In overall good estate condition with scattered nicks, areas of abrading/rubbing and oxidation (this last most apparent at interior of candle cups). Soiling in more deeply modeled areas. Several elements are slightly bent. Candle cups outfitted for sockets; however, none are now present. Side of each candle cup with drilled hole for wiring. Dulled deep brown patina. All consistent with age, material and usage.
