Pair of George III Polychrome Sidechairs, late 18th century, each with a serpentine crest above a padded back, the padded saddle-form seat raised on cabriole legs headed by foliate shield carving and ending in ball-and-claw feet, the whole with gilt and polychrome accents in the chinoiserie manner, upholstered in antique needlework in figural and animal patterns, h. 36". Provenance: The Flatt Collection.


  • Condition: They are both in very good, cared-for condition. The frames are sturdy with no sign of damage or repairs. Mild wear along the top of the backs. Nicks, dings and rubs to the legs and feet consistent with their age and use. The needlework covering is in a very good state of preservation. The front edge of one seat cover has two small areas of thread loss.
