Pair of German 12 Lot (.750) Silver Candlesticks first quarter 19th century, Hanover, by Christian Ludewig Busch (1773-1872; Master 1803), each with a tapering standard with applied garland capital, surmounted by a vasiform nozzle with engraved leaf calyx and detachable circular bobeche, the whole raised on a trumpeting foot with laurel banding above a square plinth base raised on four spherical feet, monogrammed on the basal edge "HC", h. 1-1/4", w. 4-1/8", 27.16 total t. oz.

  • Condition: Good. Some scattered light surface scrapes and bumps - including some marks around the bobeches where candles have been extracted - but in otherwise very good condition with no dents, breaks or repairs noted. One piece marked (on the basal edge) with the Hanover city mark and fineness (a trefoil over "12"), the assayer's letter "F" and the maker's mark "Busch"; the other piece with a maker's mark only - "SUHR" - perhaps an unidentified journeyman or contractor.
