Pair of Impressive Franco-Chinese Candelabra

ca. 1900, in the Louis XV style, the three-light candelabra with rococo bases, the molded pierced candle branches decorated with interspersed porcelain flowers at the rear, behind brown and green Chinese pottery foo dogs, sitting on bronze platforms.
h. 31-1/2", w. 16", d. 15-1/2"

  • Condition: **In overall good condition. Each foo dog has a few surface glaze chips, mostly to the back of the head and back, and there are some minute losses to the edges of the foo dog edges and claws on paw feet where they attach to the bronze base. On one foo dog, a curl on its head, and two spots (probably glaze chips) on its tail and back appear to have been overpainted with a similar pigment. On one candelabrum, half of a porcelain flower is lacking, and on both candelabra there are minute losses to flower petal tips scattered throughout. One of the foliate candle arms that attaches to the base is loose. Condition issues are minimal, and are as to be expected with age and use.
