Pair of Jacob Petit Paris Porcelain Vases

second quarter 19th century, French, inspired by Staffordshire vases, in the form of tree trunks, each with encrusted flowers, one vase with a deer and birds and the other with a setter and birds, both poised on the forest floor molded with bracken and mushrooms, each signed "J.P." in underglaze blue.

  • Condition: **The "Deer" vase: restoration to top two inches of rear of tree trunk. Restoration to both wings and tail of dove, and typical scattered losses to encrusted flowers. Restoration to deer's tail.
    The "Dog" vase: typical scattered losses to encrusted flowers. Restoration to both wing tips and tail on nesting bird. Restoration to one wing tip of upper bird. On other bird, restoration to both wing tips and tail.
