Pair of Large Neoclassical-Style Bronze Urns on Pedestals

20th century, the urns with molded medallions under the rims and reeded sides, set with scroll-molded handles and raised on winged griffin feet, the Ionic-form column bases with acanthus leaf borders and molded ogee bases.

Provenance: The Estate of Donald J. Hurst, Waterloo, Iowa.


  • Condition: **No open cracks after careful examination, but impossible to test with water. In very good condition with a surface crack across one pedestal; no additional losses or damages. The finish is not painted, but the patination is chemically induced, not from age. There is scale to the interiors of both urns. They are bronze, not bronze plated.
