Pair of Louis XIV-Style Fruitwood Fauteuils, 19th century, each with a padded, domed back joined by paneled, downswept, bellflower-carved arms to the scrolling hand rest and padded seat, raised on S-scroll legs joined by a like X-form stretcher and ending in foliate block feet, h. 41".


  • Condition: In overall very good condition. Both are very tight and sturdy with no indication of breaks or repairs to the legs or stretchers. Some rubbing and abrasions to the finish. Normal minor shrinkage and wear. The upholstery is firm and presents well but for some light staining to the seat cushions that looks like it will clean. The gimp on the side of the chair stiles exhibits considerable fraying (cats?) with some attendant fraying to the adjoining fabric.
