Pair of Louis XV Giltwood Stools

mid-18th century, each with a shaped rectangular cushioned seat above a conforming shell- and foliate-carved apron, raised on molded cabriole legs headed by shell and bellflower carving and ending in scrolled toes.

  • Condition: **In overall very good condition. Both stools exhibit scattered losses to the gilt and gesso, some minor chips/flakes and scattered insect damage.

    Both are tight at the juncture of the legs and apron. Newer corner blocks have been added to the underside of each.

    Upholstery with light wear and in serviceable condition. One down cushion is affixed, the other loose. The affixed cushion has a group of small parallel tears/holes.
