Pair of Marble Urns on Faux-Marbre Pedestals

19th century, the campana-form "Vert d'Irlande" urns mounted on faux marbre wooden pedestals painted to mimic "Flowered Lunel" marble, with molded trim.

  • Provenance: From the furnishings of Dog Hill, the 1846 North Salem, New York, mansion built by Lewis Titus.
  • Condition: Rich combination of highly figured marble and faux marbre,
    ONE EXAMPLE:
    Top edge with a 1/4" x 3/4" loss to top edge; scattered scuffs/dings to the outer flared edge.
    Foot with 3/4" x 1/2" loss and 2-1/4" x 4" area of old filler; typical dings and small losses around base edge.
    OTHER EXAMPPLE:
    Scattered scuffs and losses to the outer flared edge, the largest is 2" with filler.
    1-3/4" x 9" area of old filler at the throat. Foot with a 1" x 1-3/4" loss along with dings/scuffs/assorted small losses here and to the base edge.
    STANDS:
    Generally good; one with three approx.5" vertical shrinkage cracks up from the molded base.
