Pair of Meissen-Style Porcelain Covered Ginger Jars fourth quarter 19th century, Potschappel, Germany, decorated with applied flowers and birds and marked by Carl Thieme with an underglaze blue fish over a "T", h. 16-1/2", dia. 7-1/4".


  • Condition: 1st JAR: Cover and body with very scattered losses to flower petals and a stem or two. Restoration to the tail of two parrots on the body. 2nd JAR: The cover with restorations to the top branch and substantial losses to a flower at one end of it. A glaze and subsequent gilt anomaly around a portion of the narrow gilt band on the lower collar. The body with losses to portions of three leaves and scattered flower petals. The jars themselves with no cracks or chips.
