Unusual Pair of Paris Porcelain Hand-Painted Campana-Form Urns, second quarter 19th century, decorated with Greek figures, one urn depicting soldiers watching ships in the distance, and the other a fallen soldier with a sword being attended by a young woman, the reverses decorated with war trophies, including crossed Greek flags, h. 13-1/4", dia. 10".


  • Condition: Previously mounted as lamps, so urn lips retain glue/mounting accretions and bases have been drilled. A 1/3" shallow chip and 1" hairline crack to base of urn where it is conjoined to stemmed foot. There is notable wear to gilding, especially to bases. Spider web cracks to inside base of one urn where it is drilled. Reserves are intact and retain their rich colors. Small pre-glaze/firing chip to lower corner of square plinth.
