Pair of Portuguese Walnut Armchairs, 18th century, in the rococo taste, each with a medallion back with foliate and scroll carving, a seat rail with like carving, and raised on cabriole legs, now upholstered in crimson and beige brocade, h. 48".

  • Condition: Each exhibits past restorations, wear and abrasions commensurate with age and use. The legs of both chairs are tight. One has some worm damage that does not appear to be extensive enough to cause structural issues. A few scattered indications of insects elsewhere. The back of one chair is very loose, and has a break at an old repair at its crest rail. Along that break there is a loss to a molded edge, about 1" by 1/2".
