Pair of Spanish Parcel-Gilt Sterling Silver Fighting Cockerel Table Garnitures mid-20th century, by Plateria Espunes, Madrid, the combatant birds realistically detailed with gilt combs, beaks and wing and tail feathers, h. 7-1/2" and 5-1/4", l. 8-1/4", 20.51 total t. oz.


  • Condition: Overall Condition: Good. In generally good condition overall, with a few minor bends in the stamped sheet silver feathers. One bird has some light green oxidation around one foot, probably a reaction in the gilt to some table salt. The gilding is very worn throughout. Each piece marked (on a tail feather) with the Spanish "star" mark in use from 1934 and the maker's mark of Plateria Espunes (an urn).
