Paris Porcelain Neoclassical Urn

second quarter 19th century, hand-painted with a view of a queen with a Roman gladiator in attendance, the Bay of Naples in the background, with handsome molded handles, and tooled gilt decoration on the reverse.
h. 22-1/2", w. 11-1/2", d. 7"

  • Condition: **In overall good condition. The underside of the rim has been overglazed, which is suggestive of a repair. On the painted reserve on the base with putti, there is some overpainting/glazing to the trees. The screw/bolt on the underside has been replaced. There is some abrading and losses to glaze and gilding to the lower portion of the vase where it attaches to the base and stem foot. Light wear to gilding is also scattered throughout handles and vase body.
