Rare Antebellum Natchez Coin Silver Pitcher

third quarter 19th century, by Louis Emile Gustave Profilet (1800-1868), Natchez, Mississippi, the ovoid body decorated with repousse floral scrolls centering a cartouche, the waisted collar with wavy beaded band and integral spout, with domed foot and arched "grapevine" handle, monogrammed "MSD".
h. 11-1/2", l. 8", dia. 6-1/2"; 30.48 t. oz.


  • Condition: **In overall very good condition, with no dents, breaks or repairs noted, and no significant wear. The monogram is a later addition. Nice repousse work. Marked (on the underside of the body, within the foot) "E. PROFILET"; somewhat lightly struck because of its location, but fully legible. A very attractive and rare piece.
