second half 18th century, with molded edges, hand-painted with flowers in the center, the borders decorated with sprigs of flowers alternating with Yiddish script.
dia. 14"

  • Condition: **There is a horizontal hairline crack that goes through the rim into the well. From the well, the crack branches out into two glaze cracks (fingernail does not catch in them), approximately 1/2 the circumference of the well. Much of the broken glaze on the rim edge is chipped off with some subsequent minor losses to the ceramic. The plate has been drilled through the rim for hanging purposes. The bottom of the plate has some scuffs and scratches and stilt marks innate to the kiln firing process.
