Rare Wedgwood Shell-Molded Pearlware Partial Dessert Service

19th century, post-1860, English, decorated in white and gold with pink flourishes, the set comprised of a nautilus-form open compote on stand, with an impressed "W", h. 9", w. 11-1/4", d. 7-1/4", a pair of covered sauce tureens on stands with seaworm finials, with an impressed "X", h. 6-1/2", w. 8-3/4", d. 6", four shell-form dishes, with an impressed "S", h. 1-3/4", w. 10-1/2", d. 7", and fourteen scalloped shell-form plates, with an impressed "V", w. 8", d. 8", each impressed "WEDGWOOD".


  • Condition: **There is a chip to the rim of one dish and a chip to the foot rim of another dish. There is a hairline crack to the inside of one shell cover and restoration/repair with light blue discoloration to the inside rim of another cover. In overall good condition. Condition is as to be expected with age and use.

    Please note that the assembled set has various date marks - all of which are 19th century.

    Please also note that there are 14 scalloped shell-form plates, not 11 as stated in the printed catalogue.
