Regency Mahogany Bookcase

first quarter 19th century, the molded overhanging cornice above four astragal-glazed doors, the lower section fitted with four paneled cupboards, raised on a plinth base, the top of the lower section bearing various pen and pencil inscriptions noting various movements of the piece beginning in August 1837, the latest 1988.
h. 106-1/2", w. 109-1/2", d. 15-1/2"

  • Condition: **In "as found" condition. There are old dings and chips to the base board. The lower wooden doors have marks on the panels from packaging tape that has lifted the finish. Other similar marks to the sides. The upper doors have individual glazed window panels. All appear fine. The top roof board on the left section has come loose. The back boards appear to be original. There are no fresh cuts and they have the same finish throughout the interior of the cabinet. They have, however, been removed and put back on at one time to transport the cabinet in sections.

Comes apart in three sections - top, bottom and cornice molding. The lighter wood on the lower front right appears to be a lighter mahogany and could be stained in to match.
