Regency Mahogany Bookcase, early 19th century, the molded and dentillated cornice above a case fitted with an inlaid Greek-key frieze over two Gothic-arch astragal-glazed doors, the lower section fitted with two paneled cupboard doors with inlaid decorative stringing, raised on a plinth base, h. 41-1/4", w. 95", d. 18".

  • Condition: In overall good condition. Tight and stable with normal mars, abrasions, wear, dings and indications of age and use. The top of the base exhibits a slight upward warp, with a veneer loss, now colored-in along one outside edge, about 4" long by 1/4" wide. There is a veneer patch on the opposite side. There is a straight-line shrinkage crack on one side of the base, apparently at the point two boards are laminated together. The lower cupboard doors are tight and bind slightly when closed.
