Regency Mahogany Bowfront Chest
early 19th century, the bowed top banded and with string inlay, above a conforming case fitted with a brushing slide over two short drawers and two graduated long drawers, all with string banding, raised on splayed bracket feet.

Condition: **In good polished and restored condition, exhibiting shrinkage, light surface scratches, minor mars, wear and indications of age and use.
There is a loss to the light-wood banding at the edge of the top, on one return at its back corner. The loss is about 6" long and 3/16" wide and deep. There are veneer tears, small splinter losses and filler at the edge of the top on the other return. Some banding and stringing may be a later addition.
The case is tight and solid.
Drawers slide smoothly. Locks are present; key is not. The brasses are replacements.
Both sides of the case exhibit vertical shrinkage cracks.
