Richard Nixon Letters and Memorabilia

including a number of signed letters, thank you notes and cards, with photographs, programs from the funeral services of Richard and Pat Nixon, and more.

  • Provenance: The Estate of Bonnie Bolding Swearingen, Birmingham, Alabama.
  • Notes: Detailed list of items available on request.
Among the more interesting letters here is one from December 29, 1992 where Nixon laments "this might have been a somewhat depressing Christmas because of the outcome of the election" (an allusion to Bill Clinton's defeat of incumbent George H. W. Bush the previous month) but that Bonnie Swearingen's gift of a "delicious ham made it a very special day", and another from July of 1993, two weeks after the death of his wife: "For the past fifty-three years I have usually finished personal letters with the phrase 'Pat joins me in expressing our appreciation' . . . I can't say that now in the physical sense, but there is no question that in spiritual sense she joins me in saying that to you today."
