Rococo Revival Giltwood Pier Mirror and Matching Table, mid-19th century, the marble-top table molded with fruit and flowers and raised on cabriole legs, the arched top pier mirror with a pierced crest decorated with shells, scrollwork and flowers, with trailing ivy at each side, overall, h. 106", w. 36", d. 14".
- Condition: In good restored condition. The surface appears to be a very high quality later re-gilding with some scattered minor losses revealing the underlying gesso, most notably on the legs of the base. Some scattered very minor chips and flakes to edges of carved surfaces. The base is sturdy and solid, free of any wobble. The marble top show indications of having been on the piece for a very long time, though the molded edge is not typical of the period. The mirror plate appears to have been replaced and is crisp and clear.
