Set of Twelve Louis-Philippe Silver-Gilt and Mother-of-Pearl Fruit Knives

second quarter 19th century, Chatellerault, first standard (.950) silver, each with a blunt-shaped silver-gilt blade and mother-of-pearl handle with silver-gilt rococo ferrule and finial, the handle inset with a plain silver navette-shaped plaque monogrammed "F".
l. 7-3/4"

  • Condition: **In fair to good condition. All of the blades are snug, though one is bent slightly upwards, with a crack and small hole in the ferrule. Another knife has a short crack in the ferrule, and the finial of another is extruded about 2.3 mm but secure. Six of the inlaid silver monogram plaques are lacking. One mother-of-pearl handle has a small 2.2 mm chip about midway down, and most have some black surface marks, probably metal residue from rubbing against one another.
