  • Condition: **The case is in overall good condition. The finish was likely mahogany originally and is now presented in a later "ebonized" surface. There is a 3" shallow scratch to the tail end of the lid along with a rub mark which has worn through the black finish. And a minor rub to the outside of the case above the rear leg. Other minor scuffs and dings consistent with age and use.

The following technical report provided by David Doremus Algiers Piano Works, Ltd; Piano Tuning and Restoration
    Serial No: 186043
    Date of Mfg.: 1917
    This is a 5' 8" U.S. grand.
It is in fair shape for a used piano.
The plate and case appear to have been refinished.
The hammers and shanks have been replaced, they are not Steinway parts but are good quality. The hammers look like ones Abel made from the 1980's or 90's, but it is impossible to tell exactly with no manufacturer's marks. They have very little wear and may not have been played much at all.
The soundboard, bridges and pinblock are solid. It looks like the plate was refinished without replacing the strings. The tuning pins are a little on the loose side but that is normal for a piano of this age. There is mild rust on strings and tuning pins from humidity.
    The pedals operate properly.
The keyboard is in very good condition. One keytop is cracked but with cleaning and polishing it will look and feel very nice.
